hey, i just got a banshee and had a few questions, hoping this is in right section. i just bought a 99 banshee off craigslist and its just been rebuilt, been bored 20 over, has fmf exhaust, jetted, boost bottle (not sure if they came stock or not, but it has one), and a clutch and durablue +4 axle. I mostly do trail riding and little track (nothing bigger than 50ft tables and doubles) and wondering wats best way to get some better bottom end power? trying to gain a little more bottom so i dont have to feather clutch. any suggestions that wont kill wallet? thanks

+4 timing, shave the head .020, good airfilter with no airbox lid, drop one tooth on the front sprocket.set of good reeds.

I am pretty new here as well, but welcome to BHQ! I would say to make sure its running in top condition first, then look at what you can do to improve from there. Start out with a compression test. If all is well there, make sure its running a good A/F ratio. Most people do a plug chop to check this. I believe in there is a sticky pinned for this. Most seem to agree that the boost bottle is purely snake oil, and would probably recommend getting rid of it. As far as bottom end power, it really just depends on your budget, and your goals. Changing sprockets is probably the very cheapest way to shift the powerband down a bit, and if your timing isn't already advanced, that would be another cheap way to pick up some response and kick. Beyond that you start to look at porting and stroker cranks, etc. They do not fall into the very cheap category, but it all depends on you budget. Good luck and keep us posted on what you do. There are a great bunch of helpful banshee-addicts here.

thanks guys, im not sure if timing has been advanced yet, i planned on losing a tooth on sprocket, but heard that it is constant shifting in the woods, my rear shock is blown out so i need to replace before i hit the track, but the quad runs pretty goods and it was a good deal, $1500, very clean, just rebuilt new tires all way round, i think im going to try reeds, sprocket and air filter first

ummm.....if its got a stock suspension on it then your probably going to be the only banshee out there doing 50ft tables. basically the stock suspension sucks and they do not hand jumping well AT ALL.

I would ditch the fmfs and get a set of pro circuits and then ditch the boost bottle and get a factory crossover to replace boost bottle. And as said earlier its gonna be a little rough taking 50 footers on stock suspension so good luck on that one. If you really want that thing to haul send the cylinders to Jeff @ FAST for a mx port and you'll be golden
