bigpanther2004 Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Just got done doing a new set up over the winter bored it out its now .40 over went with a 2into 1 carb from cascade 35mm put vf3 reeds, got the jugs ported and polished and put transfer ports in adjustable timing plate. my question is that when we first started it up we could not get the thing to run at any throttle so we messed with the float level, well come to find out it was the TORS switch was messed up ( very dumb thing we over looked ) but we but it all back together and i am running a 42 pilot and a 230 main and it still seems like when i get in 6th its running out of fuel, my question is is there anyway when we messed with the float that it dont have enough fuel in the bowl to keep up or is the jug work to much for a 2 into 1 setup? also i believe the clip on the needle is on the first setting, also running at +5 degrees on the plate seems to start kinda hard should i move it back down a little? crustydemon Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 It's very possible that your float level is messed up now and running your bowl dry but it would have to be off quite a bit. I'm not familiar with setting up a 2 into 1 so cant give any jetting advise. I'd set the needle in the middle posision for starters and just leave your plate alone for now. Find out the proper float height and set it where it should be before you do anything. How aggressive a port did you get? Quote
bigpanther2004 Posted May 24, 2011 Author Report Posted May 24, 2011 i dont its a real agressive port job but i not real sure how to really tell, and have you ever done much with the transfer ports? i know he made the one side i wanna say exhaust smooth and the intake was just ported but left kinda rough Quote
crustydemon Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Somebody else will have to help you with the 2 into 1 because know nothing about them and dont want to. Was it a reputable builder that ported it, if so they should at least give you the timings or you can figure it out with a degree wheel. Your going to need some type of a starting point for your jetting. I dont know your elevation but I think a 230 main would be lean where I'm at. get your float set right first. Quote
sleeper06 Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 16mm is the float height with carb tilted on the side so the float just touched needle and barely pushes on the center spring, check the float b4 you burn it up.You should also be in the area of a 195-200 main Quote
