Larry's Shee Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) Being brand new only thing that comes to mind is possibility of not all of the casting sand was gotten out at the factory and is plugging the head most likely. Where you at that you picked up a new Banshee? Do a leak down test to eliminate possibility of an air leak. Should be a sticky on how to do it/make tester. 06specialedition Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Hows the jetting? It could be running lean Quote
greenskin77 Posted May 4, 2011 Author Report Posted May 4, 2011 well its a 2005 shee my bros..bike he bought new then but left state to work for years untill 2010 got back had kids and never rod eit ... so jetting is factoyr.. and i had other people tell about it might be lean... i even clean the carb and swtched carbs with my shee it still over heats.. i changed cdi i even switched around the plug wires it didnt change a thing. i didnt do a leak down test yet. but it leaking on the kicker side wich holds the oil so in my other shees when that seal went out it smoked and kinna leaked oil from the exhaust manifold. so i dont see how it would be lean on that side. Larry's Shee Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 carb boot cracked/dryrot, leak at crossover , oil low thus not sucking oil, leakdown test will help eliminate a lot of possibilities. if possible post picture of old piston Quote

Larry's Shee Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) Intake crossover/balance tube, but you changed boot. How much time was on before storage? How much since? Edited May 4, 2011 by Larry's Shee Quote
greenskin77 Posted May 4, 2011 Author Report Posted May 4, 2011 Intake crossover/balance tube, but you changed boot. How much time was on before storage? How much since? yep i changed the boot ... like i said maybe 3 or 4 hours he put on the bike the next day after he bought it .. then left state for work. been stored scnce ..he got back n got it out it ran good for few days maybe 2 hours each day at the most. then bammmmm piston broke locked motor up becase piceses of the ring got between the head and piston so u couldent kick her .. we bought new piston n rings and from that point on it get red hot in like 6 mintues Quote

This thing has the classic signs of an air leak- you can have a leak on the right side at somewhere OTHER than the crank seal. Head gasket, reed gasket, base gasket, etc. The fact that you MELTED a piston says the you have a lean condition. Quote
