frankO 7 Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 HeyO! My left cylinder started cutting out at lower rpms.... seems to be fine throughout powerband. I pulled my carbs and am cleaning the shit out of them but i also noticed some coolant on my left front cylinder stud... just on the tip of the stud where the threads meet the top of the bolt, not under the bolt. Pretty sure it was not spilt there... Waiting for some new reeds, gaskets, and tors removal kit before i put it back together. Any thoughts on the coolant finding and the cylinder cutting out other than carbs being clogged? Could a bad head gasket cause the cylinder to cut out like that?? Quote
lowbuckracing Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Pull the spark plug on that side and smell for coolant.get a flashlight to see if there is any in the cylinder.sounds like a bad head gasket.is it a stock or cooled? Quote

Stock head... no sign of coolant in the cylinder. I have the reed cages and exhaust pulled as well as the plugs. So would what i am seeing indicate that the gasket is just bad around that stud? I have a whole gasket kit coming anyways so I guess i'll just replace the head gasket. Thanks lowbuck! Any additional thoughts from anyone on the cylindar cutting out or the potential coolant leak would be appreciated. Quote
