NetBSD Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 been searching and reading about this for about a week, all i see are some comments about them being great for bottom end and others saying you will loose power on the bottom but gain on the top. can someone point me to a good read about it or explain the pros/cons? 90% of the stuff im finding looks like smack talk/personal preference. i want to put one on my 1995 banshee with T5's. can i run a single on a stock engine? no clue whats done to mine yet but im going to keep it close to stock, maybe a woods/trails port from FAST. my riding is all done on the coal hills of PA so maybe some of you locals can chime in and let me know what you are running Quote
robert.b.west Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) I think snop would be a good guy to comment on this. I think he has run both. I think he liked 2 better but I would wait for him to comment. Edited April 12, 2011 by robert.b.west Quote
Snopczynski Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 A single carb setup accelerates faster. Single carbs make a little more power on the bottom, but it was not noticeable to me compared to the twin carbs.. Twin carbs make a whole lot more power starting in the midrange on through to the top end. Quote
armyvet Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 yeah its gonna come down to preference,i had the single set up on my last banshee and it ripped especially the full throttle launches in 2nd gear needed for some of the hills and slag pits around here, plus ease of tuning. Now i have the dual carbs on my current banshee and i like it as well but this banshee has a more aggressive port job on it so i may run duals for awhile.Youll still have plenty of topend with a single dont be mislead.Bottom line is just preference, the banshee is still a twin cylinder 2 stroke so itll still scream regardless of aspiration. If you dont want to tune 2 carbs then go single.
