06bluebanshee Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 Hi- I have a 2006 Banshee that only has about 5 hours on it, pretty close to new condition. I was riding it today and beating on it pretty good, slaming on the brakes alot. When I came home I smelled something burning! I looked down and the rear caliper area was smoking! I put my fingers on the caliper and it was very hot. The bike rolls freely and is not hanging up anywhere. What could this be? Just normal break in time or what?? Any ideas guys? Thanks. Quote
ree_ree Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 did you lose the spring that goes to your brake lever ? that would cause your brakes to sit on your rotor and heat up a lot...if not it could be them just being new... Quote

06bluebanshee Posted March 17, 2011 Author Report Posted March 17, 2011 No the spring is still there, but I did tighten the chain today. Could tightening the chain interfere with the rear brakes some how ????? Quote
dirtydownunder Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) were you accidently putting your hoof on the brake lever while riding ?, if everything has free travel and the disk can move freely, it has to be that. you can adjust the lever so you dont step on it. 06bluebanshee Posted March 17, 2011 Author Report Posted March 17, 2011 Yeah it rolls freely no problem there. Huh maybe I was resting my foot on the brake lever. Thanks guys. If anyone else has any idea please say them. Thanks. Quote
