What up BHQ fam? I tore my engine down because I had a lean condition on my left cylinder. I remove the crank & seen that the cases where gauled badly & that it had a little crack on the left cylinder side. I looked closely & assumed that the crank was out of true & hit the cases & cracked it. The mating surface on the left cylinder side has a little hump on it & is not straight. Could I get these cases fixed or do I need to trash them? Here are some pics I took to get some opinions on what happen & what to do with them. Thanks in advance.

Ya know I am sure you could find someone that would fix them for you but for the price of a nice set of cases I would not think it would be worth your trouble.

Yes.. they can be fixed but as stated.. for what you would have into getting them fixed.. your better off buying another set.

This is just me, but if buying another set of cases isnt in your budget right now, Id spend some time with a LITTLE carbide burr on a dremel, and V out the crack just a touch, clean it up really well, epoxie it back up, smooth the top where it mates, and run them.. Is it ideal? nope, but that web is just a hollow spot, and gets thicker as it goes down.. If it were mine, Id do what I just said, and run them. Wouldnt bother me one bit.. Ive seen and ran worse before..

As stated i know if i repaired them your talking tig time,chucking in the bridgport and milling them down ,your talking labor intensive an if you heat to much they pull,also as stated ive seen epoxy hold together worse shit than that
