americanmusc1e Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 its kind of an upgrade for me since the previous bike was a honda Recon ES that I had for 6 years.... its going to be used for trail riding and amateur drag racing at a local mud bog/dirt drag place thats a couple of miles from my house....... its a 99 banshee with an aftermarket head, FMF fatty and Powercore II, and its been overbored a little..... thats all the info the PO gave me..... it also has a durablue rear axle and a DG front bumper any way to tell what else has been done to it performance wise?? (timing, reeds, clutch, porting????) tell me what you think and what I should upgrade first...... Quote
Larry's Shee Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Welcome to BHQ. Hard to tell without taking something apart. For up grades consider shocks, extended a-arms, new front tires. For motor consider reeds and larger carbs, better air filter. Depends on money, what you want. What rear tires you using for trails? Search around and see what others are using. Quote
06specialedition Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Welcome to BHQ! Looks like a pretty good bike. Yeah, you'll have to tear into it to find out exactly what has been done. Quote
americanmusc1e Posted February 10, 2011 Author Report Posted February 10, 2011 I've already changed the transmission oil.... greased the front end, replaced the front brakes, rebuilt the rear Master cylinder and a couple of other things....... it still need a new chain and sprockets and new rear tires (besides the paddle tires) I'm kinda stuck on the rear tires...... I need something that is capable of keeping me out of trouble in the mud and will fit on my 8" beadlock rims...... I'm thinking about ITP mudlites......http://www.4wheelparts.com/ATV-Tires/ITP-Mud-Lite-Radial-Tire.aspx?t_c=78&t_s=478&t_pt=101042&t_pl=101855&t_pn=ITP56A387 I don't necessarily like putting a mud tire on a sport atv, but it beats getting stuck or having to change out to the paddle tires every time it rains...... then, after that I can concentrate on improving my launch and shifting abilities for some amateur drag racing...... 4MiLLDraGSheE Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Welcome to hq. I got mine just like urs except mine had plus two a arms also. I paid 1500 for it and off i went. I was gunna trail ride and drag like u but was like how can i do the both so i chose drags and dunes... 5 thousand dollars later im almost ready to start dragging only 1500 more to spend. Id say u gotta choose one of the two to really zero in. U can pop off the flywheel and see if the timing is adjusted... first thing for thirty bucks set it at plus 4 and u will notice a huge difference. Other than that consider a port and billet parts are always fun to buy congrats and welcome be sure to check out the site sponsors for parts!. Quote
