DeuceRooster Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Quick question. I have the chance to pick up a head that has been milled .075" and .25 Degree angle re-domed VERY CHEAP. Machine work is freshly done. I've got an 04 Shee all STOCK. If I bolted this head on and added a +4 timing key would that combo work and what octane fuel would I need to run? I know this isn't the ideal setup considering I don't have pipes or anything but the deal I can get on this is almost to good to pass up. Trying to get the most power I can...cheap! Quote

Pipes should always be the first mod for power on a Banshee. But after adding pipes some people want more low end and a cut head is an easy way to get that. If it is a smoking deal, I would buy it and then find a way to get some pipes. Quote
NYUK Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 penny wise dollar stupid, sounds like you will have to run straight race gas. Quote
DeuceRooster Posted January 5, 2011 Author Report Posted January 5, 2011 Alright guys thanks for the quick replies. I guess I'll pass on the head fow now and just do a +4 Key only until I get money for some pipes. Thanks again. Quote
armyvet Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 i picked up a stock head shaved .060 and all i run is 93 oct pump.Just run a thicker head gasket if your concerned but raising compression is a quick way to add power, cheap too. Quote

DON"T put a +4 key in it, it will just lead to problems down the road:sheared keys, loose flywheels, and damaged keyways. Spend $50 and get a Chariot timing plate off of Ebay, make sure it is a billet Chariot piece and not a cheap cast one from RM Stator or Ricky Stator. If you did JUST the head you should be able to still run on 93 octane. Edited February 2, 2011 by bansheesandrider Quote
