CFH87 Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 I ordered some new parts for the banshee got a chariot timeing plate, cp oversize impeller kit, and some engine ice coolant. I always wanted to change the impeller and I believe it should be easy. How hard is it to do the timeing plate? Is it really worth it, and is there any performance gains? Quote
BigRed350x Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 I ordered some new parts for the banshee got a chariot timeing plate, cp oversize impeller kit, and some engine ice coolant. I always wanted to change the impeller and I believe it should be easy. How hard is it to do the timeing plate? Is it really worth it, and is there any performance gains? You will need a flywheel puller to get the flywheel off to swap out the timing plate. Its not a hard job, just take your time and make sure you get the flywheel torqued back up good when you put it back on. I always put a little spot of blue loctite on the threads that hold the flywheel nut on when I re-install them. Also, watch the three little bolts that hold your stator to the timing plate. Those can get tough to get out sometimes and tend to strip easily, so watch that. Same with the pickup coil on the timing plate. Yes, its worth it. +4 is a good place to start with on the timing advance. You will notice gains right away after the timing advance. The impeller isn't hard either. Make sure you get a new clutch cover gasket and water pump gasket for when you install the new impeller you got. If you have any questions just jump on here and ask them, someone will chime in and help you out. But both install's are pretty easy in the realm of banshee parts. Quote
CFH87 Posted December 19, 2010 Author Report Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) Yeah I have someone to help me out with this. So I'd imagine it wont be too bad. Just going to take my time when I do. Also going to change the oil while I'm at it. Edited December 19, 2010 by CFH87 Quote
