ksidor Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Depending on what you are polishing will depend on what tools you need. This is becuase metals vary on how hard they are. Regardless here are a few tips to get you started. Tools needed: > Hand Grinder w/ steel brush wheel, copper brush wheel, sanding wheel kit including: (80, 200, 400, 600 grit) > Wet Sand Paper (400 & 600 grit) > Bench Grinder w/ polishing wheel > Cordless Drill w/ varies medium and small polishing attachments How to do it: You are going to want to start with the rough and work your way up to fine. First clean the part you want to polish, once clean use the wire brush wheel to clean the deep embedded dirt. Then start sanding, this part takes a while, so be patient. Start with the large areas using the grinder attachments and the hand sanding for the small/tight areas. Once you have worked your way to the 400 and 600 grit papers you can then move to the polishing wheel. Apply a THICK coat of mothers on the metal and start polishing. Continuing this process until you get the results you want. Hope this helps. Quote
