bigblockbanshee Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 I'm looking to buy a new clutch perch without the E-brake and clutch safety switch, not sure what brand yet. My question is if I get an aftermarket perch without the switch will it cause a fault in the electrical system to where it won't let the engine start? Kinda like a neutral safety switch I guess is what I'm trying to say. And if this is the case how do I disable it, just stick a paperclip in the plug to "jump it" or is there a more correct way of doing it? Quote

The switch you are talking about is actually for the park brake, it is a rev limiter to keep you from riding the bike with the park brake on. It should have a green/yellow wire coming out of it, although some years are different I am told. If you go to the back of the bike where the CDI box plugs into the wire harness, you can cut the green/yellow wire where it comes out if the plug ON THE BIKE HARNESS SIDE, not on the CDI box side of the plug. This will enable the plug to insulate the wire so it does not short to ground and enable the rev limiter in the CDI box. Also, this is a TOTALLY SEPERATE system from the TORS system which has it's own control box. Quote
bigblockbanshee Posted November 25, 2010 Author Report Posted November 25, 2010 Ah ok well I apologize for my ignorance, I thought I read somewhere that it was something to do with the clutch. I was mainly concerned whether or not it would even run without it so now I can grab another perch and take care of the extra wiring for that switch. Thanks guys! Quote
