SuperMex Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 Here is the deal my bike needs a new stator and I can't afford a new one so is it possible to test a stator that's out of a bike to make sure I'm not buying a dead one? Hope you guys can help me on this one. Quote
shoopie Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 get a clymers manual. it tells you how to test everything. i wish i had mine right now i would quote it but if you have a resistance tester, test for resistance in the red wire and the green wire i think. they are the ones that go to the stator. not the red/white and the green/white (they go to the pickup coil). if its good there should be between (dont quote me on this trying to remember) 80-130 ohms? if its bad there will be infinite resistance. if im wrong (and im pretty sure i am) maybe someone else can chime in. -Ryan Quote

2004LEBanshee Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 1. Yes you can test it. Just as mentioned above. 2. Yes it can test good and be bad. I have had 2 Ricky stators that tested in range but ran like crap once they warmed up. Quote
