for real though, im in the process of tearin my motor down but the idler gear nut is bein a huge PITA! i've tried to remove it via impact but it didn't budge. also, how are you guys removing the nut that holds clutch basket on? or atleast how are you guys keeping the clutch basket from spinning as you are trying to remove the nut?

To hold the clutch basket, I put a clean rag between the crank gear, and clutch basket gear. It works like a charm, and doesn't damage anything.

To get the clutch hub nut off, put a penny in between the gears or use a clean rag as stated above. It'll jam it in and allow you to apply your impact.

I have a nice pair of visegrip based pliers that are made for holding the clutch basket and flywheels. I use them and an impact. They are sold by Motion Pro.

thanks for the tips fellas, i'll giver her a shot and see what happens. if i cant break it loose i might have to invest in one of those vise grip tools yamahaman suggested.

alright guys, so the rag idea worked for the clutch basket and hub but that other nut still wont budge. i think i called it the idler gear but i meant the main (crank) drive gear nut. fucker wont budge. any ideas on how to break it loose?
