How much play is allowed in the rods? I checked them and one is at .08 if you slide it to one side and checked it and the other rod check .05..Just wondering if that will be alright?

So is it when the rod is to one side or in the middle? or im just up shit crick?

Diagram in Clymers shows rod pushed to one side tight to journal with remaining clearance. Either the crank is seperating or thrust bearings are shot. If there isn't a lot of hours on the crank you 'might' get it pressed back together and welded for reasonable cost. If it needs anything more it's as cheap to buy whole new crank. You have to split cases either way , if it's seperated the pin will be inset from journal (not flush/even). Sorry, :shootself:

Had this same thing happen to mine. Bearings were good but the left rod was on the high end of the spec and the right rod was way out of spec. Had Jeff at FAST press it back together and true/weld it for me for a good price and now everything is kosher. Only complaint there was that he took over 2 months to get it done for me. :shrugani:

Yeah well with winter coming up it wouldnt be bad. Im kinda confused about the pin ? where is it?

The 'pin' is what the big end of connecting rod rides on, pressed into two sides of crank, gets welded to prevent separation (like yours) and to keep it from twisting and getting out of phase i.e. not 180* different.

OKay thanks for all the help...
