leaking domes ?

Recommended Posts

Just trying to tune my new motor and have a lean pop and more smoke or steam out of the right (clutch) side. Motor will hold 6 psi overnight. Carbs are in sync, have tool. So what do you think ? Are these domes leaking coolant ? mods are as follows :

4mil stock cylinder HJR dune port

795 pro lite pistons 65mm bore

Noss Head with custompump gas stroker domes

DMC916 pipes

stock carbs

carbon tech reeds

stock cages

jetted 27.5 pilot 1 turn out 330 main middle clip on the needle

I would take exhaust off and check, dont take the reeds off and risk an airleak and another set of reed gaskets'and since its passing a leak down test, just some advice

fill the radiator to the very top and re-do the leak-down. after about 10 min, pull the cap. if coolant comes out, then you have a leak there. if you don't have a leak at the dome, then i'd look at the carbs and fuel. old premix could have separated in the bottom of the tank, and one carb could get mostly oil, making it lean, or could be plugged jet, etc....

yeah your right , it would be easier your way.but the cooling system holds up to 15lbs if you put 15lbs of pressure in the crank case you could blow a seal couldn't you? so i would remove the pipes but use a cooling pressure tester, or take off the cap and kick it over a few times and see if any bubbles come up. plus if you use a coolant pressure tester with the pipes off you can tell which cyclinder is the problem.
