smzj4 Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Ok I just did a top end rebuild, leak down test had a leak around the intake boot got that fixed. I put the engine back in torqued the engine to spec filled the radiator with coolant, now I have a leak from two bolts that are between the tension rods. The bolts are in line with each other almost middle of the tension rods. Does this sound like I have seal leaking in side the bottom end? Or do i just need some type of seal around the bolts? Or something else? Thanks for your help. Quote
Phelps Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 are you sure the hose that runs from the clutch cover to the head just isnt leaking and it's running down the cases to those bolts? there isn't any coolant passages near those two bolts..... Quote
smzj4 Posted October 5, 2010 Author Report Posted October 5, 2010 No, I wiped the two bolts with a rag and it started dripping right between the case an nut. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Could be the rubber plugs on the bottom of the cylinders leaking and the coolant is following the stud through the cases. Quote

Nutwood 472 Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 [ Leaking coolant or leaking during the pressure test? Check to see if the hose is leaking from the head to the crank case or clutch cover and is going down drain hole in the middle of the case and running to the bolts.just an ideal Quote
smzj4 Posted October 5, 2010 Author Report Posted October 5, 2010 I found the leak, its coming from the radiator hose joint that is by the water pump. Then its running down the drain hole in the middle of the case and running to the bolts. Quote
smzj4 Posted October 5, 2010 Author Report Posted October 5, 2010 Im in the process of taking the clutch cover off to check it out. Quote
