AKheathen Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 um...those are different heat range plugs........you need to be running the same 8's for all chops, or it will throw your readings off. Quote
2001blackshee Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 um...those are different heat range plugs........you need to be running the same 8's for all chops, or it will throw your readings off. What do you gain from a plug chop? What set up would you recommend it for? Quote
wfobasheeboy Posted October 11, 2010 Author Report Posted October 11, 2010 um...those are different heat range plugs........you need to be running the same 8's for all chops, or it will throw your readings off. Yes on the 330mains run I had one set of 8s left in a box marked 9s. The shee seems to run better on 9s then 8s. Quote
AKheathen Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 when you are jetted right, and not over-oiling, or running really contaminated fuel, the 8's should run perfect. when you need 9's, like for alky, then plug chops are said not to be readable, because of the fuel, so................go back to the 8's, get the mains verified with the chop, and tune the needles and pilots to run good. if you cannot do that and still believe you need the 9's, or you throw them in and the 9's seem to work better, then get some denso iridiums, and they will run better, and be in the proper heat range. i believe iw24's? they will have the reference to the ngk "8" series on the site. either 27, or 24 is the 8&9 range. Ok I will runs the 8s & do a 330 & 340 run & plug chop them. I will post up the plugs. As for premix . I am running the AMSOIL dominator synthetic oil @ 50.1 with 92 gas. Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Are you running any race gas in this bike? Quote
wfobasheeboy Posted October 12, 2010 Author Report Posted October 12, 2010 Are you running any race gas in this bike? No just 91 pump gas in it. Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 No just 91 pump gas in it. Well carry on then. I dont ever do plug chops, I just jet by plug color and feel. Some of these guys do it though and should be able to tell you accurately how they did it. Quote

AKheathen Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 i've done it once, lol... you usually only do it when you can't seem to get it, like when learning how it should run Quote
wfobasheeboy Posted October 12, 2010 Author Report Posted October 12, 2010 i've done it once, lol... you usually only do it when you can't seem to get it, like when learning how it should run This is my first banshee. The rest where 4 strokes. I pick this shee up & it needed some TLC. shee runs good now. I just would like to make sure this thing runs strong & safe no melt down. The bike was very lean when I got it "no power & white plug". clean the carbs & jetted up for the mods that are on it. I check the plugs color looked good for what I think a 2 stroke should look like. Starts good & runs good now. I was reading on here about a plug chop. So I did one to double check the mains. Quote
