1998BansheeLover Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Ok so i was thinking maybe 392 athena cylinders would be good but after looking around im gonna ditch it.. i plan on going to little sahara in a few weeks, and the last time i was out the there was a banshe with say a 8in swingarm that looked stock as far as the motor goes that kept pulling away from me..my banshee (.50over, toomey t5 pipes, boyesen reeds, and a k&n filter, will hang with most yfz and trx 450s)...i want to build something close to his..what setup would yall reccomend, for a bad banshee at low cost?...I have a stock bottom end and i dont want to put in a bigger crank..like should i go for bored cylinders? or is there a big bore cylinder out there that will go onto a stock crank ...my budget right now is like maybe 1000 to 1200... Thanks Guys! Quote

Thanks Guys! port your jugs and weld your crank man....you're already around 360cc...those toomeys can handle a really good port job, open that sucker up and ask your builder what carbs to run, that thing will rip...ditch the stock timing too, i bet for LESS than what you want to spend, you can scare yourself everytime you hit the gas... AKheathen Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 well, if you are willing to spend 1200, that will get you into a really bad ass runnin 4mill, actually. now, if it's 1200 total build, then do as mentioned and port for stock stroke, get some timing, compression, maybe carbs, and move on to suspension, and anything you want to do with the gear train to complement your riding. 06specialedition Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 X2 on welding your crank and porting your jugs. I would send your jugs to a BHQ site sponsor, I had Wildcard Racing port mine Quote
AKheathen Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 yah, best to send them to a sponsor and know you are going to get a really nice job. i also favor wildcard, but look around for the one you feel comfortable with. 90% of local atv shops don't really know how to port a 2 stroke correctly, or banshee for that matter, and those that do are only about 10% chance you are gonna get a decent running port, not just a templet jobber, or exhaust hogging. coolheads are nice, but only because of the domes you can run (basically better shape and more options for differnt compression ratios) and bling factor. they just look "cool", but don't really provide much more cooling than stock.
