nightride666 Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 ok im new to the 2 stroke world of atvs and new to a banshee i got in a trade, the guy claims it got a 404 bore kit in it. i cant remember what he said the carbs were and i want to get a rebuild kit for them, i couldnt find any size id on them and my leg is about to fall off from tryin to kick start this bitch! When i got it the idle screws were NOT there and just pluged off one carb leaks fuel out the over flow , the head on in is a stage 4 trinity head and it came with a dome head he claimed was for higher compresion ,...i have got it to start 2 times now but it has been hard as hell , should i look into bigger carbs??? any info would be great! i wanna have it ready for a local quad drag next month, thanks guys i hope i can do the banshee crowd proud! Larry's Shee Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Welcome to BHQ !! Start by cleaning the carbs one at a time. Record jetting size while you have them apart. Measure engine side of inside of carb to determine size. Make sure you have good hot spark and good plugs. Post what you find , so someone can help with float height. As for rebuild kit (if needed) check with site sponsers. Quote
madjimmax Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 X2 on cleaning and checking carbs, But more importantly do a compression check chances are it could need a top end rebuild. The leaking carb is most likely just a stuck float try tapping it with the handle of a screwdriver. And welcome to the one and only BHQ. Good luck with the shee and post up some pics. Quote

So guys it ended up having LESS than 50 psi of compression!...its NOT a 404 big bore kit...its only 65mm pistions...so im going to a 66mm after a bore job ...and then we will see how it goes from there THANKS for the warm welcome and hope to ride with some of you soon! 06specialedition Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 Welcome to BHQ! from the sounds of that low compression, I'm guessing you need a new top end. Have you cleaned the carbs yet? Quote
