redfrank Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 so i pulled the engine, found a few things, broke the plastic water pump gear, which in turn destroyed my crankseal.... so when this seal goes it would cause crankcase oil to go into exhaust, like i mean alot, had about a liter of oil in the exhaust. thanks Quote
camatv Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 bet something else broke the pump gear... check the back of the basket and look for missing screws very carefully. that gear breaks but its built to break most all the motors i have checked with a broken gear have had some other type of failure that broke the gear. and YES the motor can fill up with trans fluid from a ripped seal. happens all the time from basket explosions and or bad rebuilds with loose bolts in the crankcase area. bike will smoke like nuts on that side. oh and use OEM seals when you replace them.. Make sure the kick idler gear snap ring and washers are in place and that the idler gear bushing is good. That is what killed my primary drive gears and water pump gear. Quote
redfrank Posted August 12, 2010 Author Report Posted August 12, 2010 thanks for the replys!!! got it figured my ecentric bolt had broke sending the nut and spacer. through the engine, which in turn got caught up in the gear for the water pump impeller, so now i need to order parts, so OEM for seals is the best way to go, rather than a full oil seal kit, through ebay or something, if it is, where do you recommend where i can order parts online as my local dealer is quite expensive for everything. As well my pistons are measured 64.54mm and 64.51 mm whats bore size would that be, and should i replace them with OEM rings as well. thanks Quote
