06specialedition Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 So when I bought my 06 shee the guy before me put some chrome cpi inframes on and the bike was running pretty lean when I bought it. My problem is the pipes are pretty damn blue, 6 to 8 inches up and it drives me crazy...... Could I get them re-chromed? I've heard show chrome is really good and wont discolor at all, is this true? Who does good chrome work I could send them too? I've already tried good polishes and not much improvement. Thanks guys, -Zach Quote

Phelps Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 if you wasn't so far away i would polish the blueing out for you. it would cost to much for round trip shipping. see if you can find a polish shop near you. Quote
06specialedition Posted July 12, 2010 Author Report Posted July 12, 2010 Yeah I've heard Cascade does good work.....I'll have to see how expensive it would be. I wonder how well ceramic coating the first 6 inches of the pipe would hold up? Quote
bansheesandrider Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 (edited) Last time I checked, Cascades chromer will not do used pipes because the carbon in the pipes screws up the chrome in their tank and it becomes useless for future jobs. They have to drain and clean the tank and put in a fresh mix. There are very few places that will chrome used pipes. I would try to get it polished out, maybe by a professional. Also, ceramic coated if done properly woul hold up very well. Edited July 12, 2010 by bansheesandrider Quote
06specialedition Posted July 12, 2010 Author Report Posted July 12, 2010 I'll have to find a polishing shop around here.....I would rather polish them instead of having them ceramic coated. There is a powder coating shop by my house that does ceramic coating though, maybe I'll check that out. Quote
06specialedition Posted July 12, 2010 Author Report Posted July 12, 2010 I've used stuff called "Blue Job" and it didn't hardly do a thing. Quote

jlevasseur Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Cascade doesn't chrome used pipes. Even if the bike was jetted correctly or even rich they would blue by the exhaust manifolds because the factory CPI chrome is only single plated. If you find a chromer to triple plate them for you they will look a lot better and also hold up against the heat a lot better. I had two set of CPI's, one show chromed and the other factory chrome, the difference was night and day. Gobigorgohome on here does chroming and will chrome used pipes, might pm him...jmo. Quote
