shifting like crap

hey guy's just got back from pismo had a great time and the bike ran awesome. only problem is it was a PETA to shift when drag racing. I tried to search about the shifting mods but what is the best to do I don't want to go override yet cause i don't wanna split the cases. it shifts fine when just riding. and i can find neutral every time so give me some help. oh and yeah it felt great beating all those 4 pokers. ha ha. I will never own one again.

First it is PITA not PETA, that's who looks out for animals(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). Now, to your problem, you could do a modded shift star,or the easy roller mod, or both. You could also do the FAST shift shaft mod yourself. One other question, what oil are you using? My bike shifted like crap, even with a modded shift star, when I used motor oil or ATF or Hondaline gear oil. It shifted OK with BelRay Gearsaver, but when I switched to Klotz Flex Drive 30 it made a huge difference and now I never have a problem shifting.

PETA stands for (people eating tasty animals), so put down that squrrel jerky while you race, and you'll do fine.

 

really, if you do not wanna pop the cases open, then aall you can really do, aside from mabey a bit from different kind of oil, is to unload the trans. clutching takes forever, imo, and can slam the geartrain. you can blip the throttle, which is what i usually do, or install a stutter, which momentarily interrupts spark durring the shift, so there is no load on the gears, so they ulock and slide to the next set. there is also the shift shaft mod, which helps a tad to push the lever further. pretty much any external mod you do will only help the lever move, but not effect how the gears function

man I'm an idiot PITA i had to get up early yesterday after a 9 day vacation at the beach so i was a little tired. I was looking at the shift star mod and the roller, what exactly do they do to the shaft. I tried to find posts on it but i'm not having luck. My other questions was i guess i was just looking to see if these mod's really helped people be able to shift better. thanks for the input guy's
