I just switched out my pipes and carbs for a set of 34mm Mikunis and a set of CPI inframes. I noticed a large decrease in power. The bike will start first kick and idle like a dream. It it has less lowend but I expected that with the CPI pipes. It does not rev out like it used to. It feels very sluggish on the top end. I checked the plugs and it seems to be running a little bit rich, but nothing major. Do you think that it is too much carb for the bike.

Here is what the bike has for mods.

Mild Dune port

34mm Carbs

Cpi Pipes

pods

+4 timing

Definitely not too much carb. Post up your jetting, elevation, riding temps and all that and I'm sure someone will help get you lined out.

Did you do a plug chop, or just look at the plugs?

I pulled the carbs and pipes off a bike running the same setup only with a little more aggressive porting. The mains are at 280 and the needle is in the middle. I am running at 1400 feet and the temp was about 75 degrees.

i had those carbs, and with t-5s, dune port and pods, i was running a 320/330 main depending on temp. made good smooth power curve. elevation bout the same as you as well.

Way too lean. CPI's need more fuel... And what size pilots are you running?

I have the same carbs, with my 358 Cub and Shearers (similar to your set up). I run 350 mains at sea level, or 340 at 1400 feet. I would start with 350's with your set-up, and work down from there.

the cpi's are going to want about 196-198+ degree's of exhaust timing the power is going to be very high your going to have to revv the bike MORE to get it to launch hard. i have seen this before BUT also get you r jetting in line and for sure right... cpi's are NOT trail pipes or ridding pipes. they are drag pipes and for the most part you probably not going to like them uless you drag race all the time. for dunning, trail riding and playing around i would have kept the other pipes play with your jetting and you may need to look into improved porting, better head design, maybe better reeds and some tunnin..
