Hey guys.

I have a 2002 Banshee that has k&n pods and T-5s. What should i do too make it faster? my dad has a 2006 yfz thats stock and i almost have him! i just wanna do a tiny bit of work, but enough where i can beat him with ease. thanks for your help

Grab a timing plate (cheap), get your stock head cut to up the compression or get an after market head to up the compression also (removable domes).

Then get it ported if you want, big gains in that.

Make sure your jetting is spot on as well.

Are you just play drag racing? On dirt? What tires and gearing?

Try leaving in second while revving it up and dump the clutch while sitting up near the tank, then right when you get going move back on the seat in start banging gears.......

How much are you looking to spend? What kind of riding do you do? Get a timing plate and set it at +4, shave your head or get a cool head with some smaller domes, a set of 28 PWK carbs, porting.

1. Mod your stock timing plate to get +4 timing.

2. Shave your head .025" if it has never been shaved.

3. While you have the head off, get a scribe and, with the piston halfway up the exhaust port make two notches on the piston top denoting the width of the exhaust port. Now pull the cylinders off and grind a 1mm deep groove into the crown of the pistons from scribe line to scribe line with a dremel or a file would work, but be time consuming. This groove should extend from the edge of the piston to about 1/4" back; like the vitos superstock piston.Clean the piston off and re-install.

4. Look into the exhaust port, and grind the metal sleeve even with the aluminum cylinder.

 

Just #1 and 2 will probably allow you to beat him; likely a 6-8 hp bump

Add 3 and 4 and you'll probably get close to double that if I had to guesstimate
