VictorK Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 I have a noise that sounds like the kicker is down but its not the kicker. the ring that holds the gear on is in place also. can it be my basket, the cushins are shot? Quote
tiffnaub Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 I think i had the same problem it was my clutch basket Quote
AKheathen Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 it could be allot of things. the kicker idler gear, waater pump, basket gear, basket/hub bushings, etc, just open it and check evverything. first- make sure it's not the brake lever or little covers on the pump and middle of the clutch cover. VictorK Posted May 21, 2010 Author Report Posted May 21, 2010 I actually thought it was the idler gear, I pulled the cover off but it wasn't. My basket looks mint but the gear has that side to side play. My banshee was one of those trades like in the other thread except I took the top end off before riding, then rebuilt it or it might of blown up! Haha I suspect the water pump or main bearing. What noise does a bad main bearing make? Like I said it kinda sounds like the kickers down but its not. I also feel like what ever the noise is, its putting drag on the motor it could be allot of things. the kicker idler gear, waater pump, basket gear, basket/hub bushings, etc, just open it and check evverything. first- make sure it's not the brake lever or little covers on the pump and middle of the clutch cover. AKheathen Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 that basket gear will make a gear knock in that condition...... Quote
