Midway USA Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 Banshee would not idle today so started investigating. Noticed the intake boots on the reed/engine side are getting some tears in them. Anyway what intakes would be best? Stock ones are arounbd $21 each. Found some UPP stock replacement ones on E-Bay but they are $80 and that seems a little steep. Are there any others available and if so what would be best to use? Quote

Midway USA Posted May 2, 2010 Author Report Posted May 2, 2010 if you have stock carbs then use the stock boots they are fine, if not get the correct boots for the carb size. Was digging in a box of misc. parts I got from a guy. Found a pair but they must be aftermarket or something. They don't have the little rubber protrusions on the reed side. I know for V-Force reeds we cut these off on a friends bike. Anyway will these work ok with the stock reed cage set up? I have Boyesen Power reeds on stock cages. Quote

Midway USA Posted May 2, 2010 Author Report Posted May 2, 2010 Thanks for the help. Will get them changed so I can ride later. Guess I should order another set so I will have some spares. Quote
Midway USA Posted May 3, 2010 Author Report Posted May 3, 2010 Got lucky and only the left one was torn. Wasn't leaking at the bottom at that tear but there was also a tear at the crossover tube and it went all the way through. Put the spares on late today and cleaned the carbs and all is good again. Sure glad I caught it before a meltdown since my engine is still pretty fresh. Quote
