Hi Guys,

The piece of pipe (not the pipe attached to the motor) leading up to the actual silencer (FMF PowerCore II Silencer) has cracked and I'm wondering what kind of material this is? Chromed steel? Aluminum?

Thanks.

Pretty sure that is stainless steel. Just painted a set of these and I was surprised to see what looked like stainless.

Steel, easiest way to see that it isn't aluminum is throw a magnet on it. Magnets don't stick to aluminum.

How big of a crack is it? I had a set of fmf's that had 1/4 inch to 1/3 inch hole in the head pipe by the frame mount. Damn thing kept leaking small amounts of oil out. Took it to school and hit it with the tig welder and was good as new.
