Cali Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Hey guys I just did a top end on my 2000 Banshee.I did a leak down test, & my left side seal is leaking behind stator. Can the crank seals be changed with out splitting cases?I know the seal have a lip on top of them that fits into the cases. So is it even possible to replace with out splitting? The short answer is, to do it properly you have to split the cases to get the new seal in without damaging it. I did have the mechanic at Florence Yamaha in the Oregon Dunes tell me that you could grind off the rib on the new seal and install it in the cases with Yamabond and let it set up, BUT, he only recomended doing this to get through a weekend at the dunes and NOT as a long term repair.
