robert.b.west Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 I have seen that people with atf type f change it every few rides but how long on motor oil or a gear oil? I usually only change mine once or twice a year. Is that normal? I ride usually 10-12 weekends a year. Quote
broncbob Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 I change mine every weekend of riding. The oil has all the trash from the transmission and clutch pack floating around in it, and you have lots of bearings in there. Your clutch will also wear faster in old oil. I ride in sand only as well. Quote
3lue by u Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 Yeah I would change it every third or fourth ride just as peace of mind. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 I run the Klotz Flex Drive 30 and I change it every 20 hours. I have a Trail Tech Vector that has an hourmeter in it. The oil looks almost as good coming out as it did going in, it is just slightly darker in color but it is still reddish purple not black. I have also had Zero tranny or clutch problems doing this. TwistedSheeRida Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 I run Amsoil 10w 30 and i change it every 25-30 hours and it looks good almost as good when i take it out as it does when it goes in. No tranny probs or clutch probs, best oil ive ran in it so far. Quote
