Wheelman Chassis Posted March 9, 2010 Author Report Posted March 9, 2010 wow no help at all????? Quote
VegasJeff Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 there is a good write up on reading alky plugs in the drag foum section.I made my first weekend passes and went with that info. Quote
No Limit Powersports Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 well its hard to tell from the small pics but it looks like your real close but it could def use a little more heat on the plug. Start squeezing the pj down till you see you heat anealment marks at about 3 and 9 oclock with the strap at 12. Quote
J-Madd Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 I can't tell much from the pics either. I can't tell if all of the plating has been burned off of the plug, or if it hasn't built enough heat to burn any of the plating. The porcelain looks a little dark. How is it running? Does it get hot? Sometimes you can feel of the transfers on the sides of the cylinders, then feel of the pipes after a WOT pass. If the transfers are hotter than the pipes you may be a little on the lean side. If the pipes are a lot hotter than the transfers you're almost definately rich. Quote
Wheelman Chassis Posted March 10, 2010 Author Report Posted March 10, 2010 after riding i can hold my hand on the jugs all day.. the pipes ar hot though all the way to the silancers. it seems to run fine no bogging or anything, revs and pulls hard.. it does seem that it has a faster rev/ freerev when its cool or before a pass maybee this pic will turn out better Quote
No Limit Powersports Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 You can see the heat just starting to burn at the base of the strap start leaning it down slowly it will start to move away from the strap. Quote
Wheelman Chassis Posted March 10, 2010 Author Report Posted March 10, 2010 You can see the heat just starting to burn at the base of the strap start leaning it down slowly it will start to move away from the strap. so am i to the point that im losing power because im rich? it was like 40* when i did these and it will be in the 60s here real soon. i want to be real safe,so i dont burn it down..the other plug hardly shows anything by the strap. also is 7* timming about right? Quote
J-Madd Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 If its rich and still revving clean its safe. Probably not much peak hp loss. My 421 dynoed the same with the pj 2 turns apart. The 421s seem to be very tolerant to variations in fuel:air and timing as well. I run mine at 9*, but I only run 300 ft. Quote
Wheelman Chassis Posted March 11, 2010 Author Report Posted March 11, 2010 so with the plugs the way they look,as long as it revs clean and pulls up stairs im safe? cool. just so i know what will it start to run like if it goes way to rich? besides no heat marks on the plugs.. Quote
