does anybody know if there is a sprocket guard like one of these made for the banshee? if not then somebody should consider making some.

Yeah, ive seen quite a few of them. They make them for DH mountain bikes and dirt bikes also. I know a few shops here have them.

On my shee, my PA rear skid covers my sprocket anyways so no need for one.

I have not seen one for the banshee, but almost all the ones ive seen are for the 450's (the one pictured is on a 400ex) the thing about the sprocket guard is that it helps give you more ground clearance while still protecting the chain. My skid plate has got me hung up several times in rutted trails, and it hugs about as close as it can get to the sprocket and brake disc.

Right on!

ive never seen that type of guard before, pretty cool. my skid plate protects my sprocket but like you said it can get jammed up at times.

well the sprocket guard im talking about is the round disc that bolts onto the side of the sprocket/hub. the other skid plate is just a guard for the brake rotor. this sprocket guard setup is the hot ticket for XC racing. since most people run a setup like this, they got more ground clearance than guys with regular skid plates, and toward the end of a 2 hr xc race, the ruts are so deep that guys with regular skidplates get hung up very easy.

This is just what I have been looking for. Great idea. With the Banshee the sprocket would bolt on from the carrier side and may have some clearance issues but I think it could be worked around to work just fine. I was worried about protection with my roundhouse, this should provide some peace of mind at least. Prototype tonight. Now, what to do about the brake disc haha?

yeah they've been using the single and dual sprocket guards in the cross country race scene for a quite few years now. I took my rear skid plate off about 4 years ago and don't use any type of protection. swingarm skidplates suck. Someone should try to use one from a YFZ450.

yea that would be nice if you could use some yfz450 parts on the banshee rear end...........might be possible?? someone with a roundhouse might try a yfz450 carrier, sprocket hub and rear brake setup and see if the chain/sprocket would line up correctly. if it did, that would be a badass setup since you can run a smaller rear sprocket and the rear brake rotor is a alot smaller than the banshee's.........that would give some nice ground clearance.

and I did a little bit of test fitting, and it would be possibe to make and use a sprocket guard for the banshee hub. you could use an old sprocket for the guard and mount it on the other side of the sprocket hub (against the carrier) I checked it and you would have enough clearance with the 2 big carrier bolts. all you would have to do is remove the studs from the hub and use longer bolts.
