overrevtricky Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Just pulled the TORS and installed the twist throttle. My question is, whats the most effective way to get both idle screws set as accurately as possible, and adjust the slides to be timed perfect/close to perfect? Been tinkering with it for a few days and can't seem to get it right! Thanks in advance Quote
superfastyfz450driver Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 use a carb synchronizer, set the mercury levels at idle, then just start opening the throttle and set the individual throttle cables to equalize the mercury height Quote

GrMeyer Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Or u can use the air meter guage that they use on the old vw air cooled motors. Some of the site sponsers have the tools on hand. If I remember I picked mine up off ebay for around $35 shipped. Great tool to have on hand. I thought I could get them tuned in by eye and sound. Boy was I way off after using the air meter guage. overrevtricky Posted March 4, 2010 Author Report Posted March 4, 2010 Great to know myer. I just did them by sight and they look decent, but i wont skimp on this one! I do have another question: Just put T-5's on, put 300 mains in, didnt touch the pilot. Now i get a small bog right before the powerband, maybe 1/4 throttle area. Is that a sign for a pilot jet or air screw tuning?? thanks guys. Quote
GrMeyer Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Most all the T5 pipes i have seen with open air box will always take a 27.5 pilot. try the needle on the 4th clip If you have the stock pilots 25. Turn them in to around 3/4 to a full turn out from fully seated. read up on this http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html Quote
overrevtricky Posted March 6, 2010 Author Report Posted March 6, 2010 Perfect timing meyer, as I took it out today and railed it pretty hard. Had a bit of coolant spewin from the overflow, I'm pretty sure that means lean somewhere. have been reading on here that T-5's favor the 27.5 pilot, but after today its time to dig in and get them changed. Printed that awesome jetting guide as soon as I opened it! thx alot Quote
