yamaha04 Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) been reading a few post lately on forged pistons and machined there are different tolerances when boring by the sounds of it. where do you find these specs and also can you check piston the cylinder gap with some feeler gauges? what pistons last the longest. historically ? i know they can all fail but Edited January 25, 2010 by yamaha04 Quote
broncbob Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 I would guess you can get the specs from the manufacture. You can not check the piston to cylinder clearance with feelers. You need a bore gauge to measure the cylinder and a dial mic for the piston, then you do the math to get your clearance. Pistons are like tadder chips, every one has a kind they like, and a kind they hate, and a million reasons why they do. If your using a builder, go with what they recommend. Quote
