buttercup-duner Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 hey my dad just bought a banshee and well it smokes alot. so we thought it might just be running with alot of oil, but it smells really weird, so we dumped out the tank and we had some yamalube oil laying around so we made a new mix and it still smokes alot and smells the same. but at the pipes it letting out oil but it feels like it might have some water mixed in. so if you know anything or have any idea of what could be wrong please let me know Quote
Ruko Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 What color is the smoke? If it's white it is from coolant, which would probably mean a leaking head gasket. If it's black and oily it could be a leaking crank seal. Check your transmission oil, if it looks good and isn't low it's probably not a crank seal. If it is low fill it up and run it for a while to see if it goes down. Or it may just be that the pipes are full of old oil and it needs a good run to get hot and burn it all out. If whoever had it before you did a lot of idling and putting around the pipes will fill with unburned goo. Quote
