OK so ive decided to post this up with pics to get the publics opinion on whats going on here..the banshee has a decent idle but bog out when you try to take off (you have to rev it up really high or it almost stalls) and sometimes it even breaks up at really high rpms.

I just picked this up a week or so ago so im learning more about it everyday, so far heres the rundown I CAN SEE:

-tors removed

-t5's

-moose boost bottle

-uni

-no snorkel

what do you guys see? a few different people told me im missing an air screw on one side, or maybe an idle screw? also when i first bought it the kid told me HE SYNCED the carbs, by eye though. He said one was rising up when the other was halfway up so he adjusted it by eye and they both are identical now. he said it ran terrible before he did it and mint after, but to me this is not mint. Maybe this could be my issue??? ........

basically i need to figure out this damn bog! its erking me! i like my stuff mint and this just isnt running mint...

here are some pics of everything ...

Stock-Yes Missing Screw-Yes You need an idle screw. dont even run that bike right now your gonna suck in crap through that hole and cause a huge headache. I bet that thing dont run worth a dam. when you get your new idle screw, go in from the airbox side of the carbs and find the right size drill bit to go under the right carb slide. now match that slide to the other by turning in the new idle screw until the slide lifts up enough to slide the same drill bit under. After thats all done your idle should be the same for both carbs. There is a peep hole at the top of both carbs, with the throttle held wide open there is a little drilled hole in the slide that should line right up with that peep hole on both carbs evenly. You adjust each side individually by turning the little nut where the throttle cable goes in. Once all this is done your carbs are synced. oh and i cant see with the pics but there should also be a little crossover tube that connects the two carbs in the middle.

They are stock carbs. Looks like you are missing an idle screw, it is to the left of the fuel inlet on the left carb. Look to see if that hole has been drilled and tapped for a screw if it has you may have an air leak witch can cause it to be lean.

If you don't have a sync tool you should get one makes it alot easier to sync them. On stock carbs you can sync them another way. Look at the right side of the carbs you will see a small window, with the motor off hold the throttle wide open, the slides have a small hole in them that should line up with those windows.

thanks alot guys, so more than likely thats my problem of hesitation and bogging/breaking up? the only thing is that hole doesnt look like it has threads in it? is that normal?

ALSO WHY DOES IT SEEM LIKE IM MISSING AN AIR/FUEL SCREW ON THE RIGHT SIDE? NOTICE IN THE PICS..

When people remove the tors, they install the large gold Idle screws. The kit comes with a shitty tap, and a Idle screw. You pretty much tap into the side of the carb wall and make your own idle screw hole.

I notice that the idle screw on the right carb is on the outside, check and make sure that it is not in the same spot on the other carb. (look in the middle in bewteen the 2 carbs). If not, see if the outside of the left carb has threads in that hole in the pic or if it goes thru to the other side of the carb wall. It is possible it came out. A new idel screw kit will set you strait. You will have to tap it out or simply screw it in if it is already threaded.

About the missing Air Screw, again look down in between the 2 carbs. You should see the small air screw on the left side of the right carb. (Same spot it is on the left carb). The carbs are pretty much the same. The left has a choke, and a tube that runs into the right side where the choke would be. They have diff bowls, and slides.

The idle screws are not stock, so they may be in a diff place.

It should have a hole drilled so you can see the slide and tapped for a screw. Check the other side of the carb and see if they drilled the wronge side.

can you check the pics i posted and tell me? ive posted both sides.

thanks!

thanks!

Wont be able to tell in the pics if it goes all the way and is threaded. You also have to look at both sides of the carb itself. Not just the right side of one, and the left side of the other.

ok so i ordered the stock yamaha idle screw for that side from the dealer and it doesnt seem to fit, that hole doesnt seem to have threads .. and the one the dealer gave me looks more like the air screw thats already there. it has a spring that also came with it.

so now im getting really really confused. people keep telling me my bike is running boggy because im missing a screw on the choke side, but no one can figure out which one, so im posting a pic ...

what goes here???IMG_0056.jpg

and heres the other side, non choke sideIMG_0057.jpg

so am i really missing something??

wow really!!!

ok in that second picture see that HUGE GOLD COLORED bolt witht he flat head on it and the HUGE GOLD COLORED nut thats behind it..

the first picture dosent have the HUGE GOLD BOLTS AND STUFF> where your FINGER is.

you need to gett the idle speed set screw thats NOT a factory yamaha part on a banshee and then get the drill and tap to install it. OR find another carb thats got it already installed OR find a buddy that put one in and borrow his tap and die to install it after you find it OR order another idle kit and just have a spare.!

most likely the guy who put on the torrs delete either was to lazy to do the other side OR so stupid he put it on the INSIDE of the left carb so its nearly impossible to get to. if you can take the seat off and take as good of a picture as you can of the INSIDE of both carbs looking down

the BOG is probably from badly synched carbs and/ or wrong jetting..

tell your dealership to try and learn more about the atv that they sold for over 20 years before they sell parts for it..

you may eve have to find a real shop thats local to you and have them explain all this and possibly help you out with it i even think i have a spare idles set screw that you'd need but i dont have the tap and drill to send you..

As said before, when you remove the tors, you have to install your own idle screws. The orig idle screw was located on the top of the tors that was taken off. Your carbs are moded stock carbs. This is not a factory kit or mod. It is aftermarket. Do you see that big gold screw with the lock nut in right carb and not the left? That is the missing idle screw. You need another screw like that to go in the hole where your finger is. Looks like it is threaded in the picture. this is done when the you tap it out for the new screws.
