Mark M Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 I just bought an 02 Banshee off a friend of mine. it runs perfect except for a minor hesitation or bog starting off sometimes or cruising at 1/8-1/4 throttle. at first i thought it was because i had no snorkel but then tried his off of his 06 and the problem didnt change. He then brought to my attention that i may be missing an air screw on the left side carb (choke side). The right side carb has a gold screw with a gold locknut while the left side does not. it looks as if it rattled out or something. theres two holes without screws on the choke side carb; 1 doesnt to seem to have threads but look the same size/location as the one on the right side which has that gold screw/locknut, and the other is smaller and has threads. I figured the air screw location/size/shape would be identical on both sides. am i wrong? I know pics would be great but im at work right now and cant do so. Mods are: -toomey t5's -no snorkel -uni filter -moose boost bottle my question again is basically is this the cause of my bog/hesitation? Quote
DallasGDub Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 The air screw sits @ the bottom right of the carb and is flush. Do you have Tors? Sounds like maybe one carb has a idle screw mod, and the other does not. Your right, pics will help say what is really going on. As far as the little bog, I had it on stock carbs. I just learned to work it. It was not a huge bog. It is all in the tuning/sync, and your pilot and needle settings. Quote

06specialedition Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 X2 Its the idle screw. Are the threads messed up at all? If not contact a site sponsor like Brandon at Wildcard and he will get you some new idle screws. Quote
Mark M Posted January 4, 2010 Author Report Posted January 4, 2010 yes guys im sorry i forgot to mention the TORS was removed as well. How does that affect the idle screws/and or the air screws? Also why is there only 1 and its on the right side (non choke) Quote
Paddleboy Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 there should be one on each carb but if you recently bought the shee from someone who did it they may not have drilled and tapped the other carb. take some pics for a more detailed and correct answer Quote
AKheathen Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 it probably rattled out from not locking the nut down, or not filing the end flat where it screws in for the nut.......is it jetted for the pipes and snorkel removal? Quote
Mark M Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 like i said i dont know what jets are in it, but assuming its jetted correctly where should my air screws generally be with my mods? (t5 pipes, uni filter, tors removed, snorkel removed) also what do you mean "he may not have filed, drilled, and tapped it"? is that from the TORS removal? please explain more... Quote
Mark M Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 UPDATE: Which one is my idle and which one"s" are my air screw"s"? (remember i believe the TORS has been removed) Assuming IM NOT missing an air screw and there is only supposed to be one big gold one on the right side, it possibly is my jetting then so where is a good starting point for a 2002 Banshee with UNI, TORS REMOVED, TOOMEY T5'S, AND A MOOSE BOOST BOTTLE? Im noticing it breaking up now in higher rpms WOT. Quote
AKheathen Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 what is the temp, elevation, and that is a uni in the box, right? lid and snorkel? Quote
