Crazyatvspazz Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 wondering if anybody has had any luck with an aluminum air box. does it add any HP? looking at this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Banshee-New-CFM-Aluminum-Air-Box-Intake-airbox_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1c0ee3449dQQitemZ120508859549QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories iam liking it because iam worried about getting debris in my stock air box w the lid off. this looks like the area that's open is much smaller than just taking the stock lid of. input? jmoore Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 I just picked up that exact box. I havn't installed it yet though. If you ran with an open airbox, this wont be any worse. I ended up getting a couple uni filters for it from rmatv. Quaility seems good and I got it within a few days of purchase. I'm thinking the air flow to the carbs will be much better but the hp gains would be minimal. Quote

AKheathen Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 don't get me wrong, it should flow alot better than stock, and oter benifits, but not like that.......you know that mull animated banner?.....well the kit floats across it every few seconds........ Quote
jmoore Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 def let me kno how it goes!!! I will! I am waiting for some jets to come in the mail for the new 28 pwk's that are going on as well. If you are wondering about air filters for it you will need to buy new ones. It takes 2 1/2" by 5" uni's or k&n's. I picked up some uni's from rmatv for around 35 bucks. I'm hoping the uni's will repel water a little better than the k&n's. Quote

jmoore Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 Part # up5245 for the uni's. You need two of them. I got the airbox installed. It was a bit af a pita. You will need a coolant bottle relocation bracket. I had to cut the airbox bracket for the coolant bottle to clear as well which was really gay but whatever. Quote
