oneeye Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 (edited) What does the needle that comes with the T5 kit have on it? I pulled the needles today and they look like the stock 5N7 with the clip in the 4th spot from the blunt end. If this is not the right one should I get the right ones or just use what I have? Thanks for any imput. Edited December 14, 2009 by oneeye Quote
AKheathen Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 well....how does it run? any flat spots, hesitation, bogs or sputtering in the throttle range? Quote
oneeye Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 Im still working on the jetting. I stuck 290s in it today and moved the needle to the middle position and it ran good but i checked the plugs and it looked lean and reved out fast. Tommorrow I am planning on 300s and back to the forth needle position. its 50s and was rainy today at 180 elevation. All I have read says I should be at 320 or 330 but it wont rev out at all. It has pods and pipe and upgraded stator and from what I was told mild porting. The temp and humidity changes are making this a bit more interesting. Quote
AKheathen Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 what do you mean upgraded stator? i would start with the needle 4th from blunt....that is pretty close to stock needle, mabey try th rich too. keep going up in size untill it sputters wot, and drop one...then go to the needle Quote
oneeye Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 (edited) K thanks, that will be the plan today after work. As far as I know it has a high output stator, at least thats what I was told but i have no idea what kind. Edited December 14, 2009 by oneeye Quote
shanYE west Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 If the stator was changed.. I'd dbl check the pickup coil gap.. If the gap is too large it will make the bike sputter uptop. With pods and T-5's on stock porting I was using 290-300 mains with a 220# rider. Elevation was around 400ft. temps were around 65-70. Needle was 4th clip from top (blunt end) 5N7 is the factory needle. Toomey needles are Dynojet DN04 Quote
