sledneck696 Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 I have noticed throughout the summer every now and again my throttle would stick and she would rev like crazy until I shut her down. It wouldnt do it very often and then work itself out. Now its much worse I went for a ride a few weeks back and it was working great had to go through a couple minor puddles on the trail and as soon as it got wet and was sticking like crazy every 2 secs it would start screaming i tapped the carbs and it would idle down.....once it dryed and we hit some good trails again the bike worked great. Then yesterday I started the bike and as soon as I went to ride it it started doing it again so i tapped the carb and it idle's down but as soon as i went to drive same thing....Last time I cleaned the carbs was early spring so I realize something is sticking in there.....anyone want to chime in to tell me what to look for. Thanks Mark Quote
crustydemon Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 Do you still have the tors setup or what? I'd take the caps off and check your slides to see if they are sticking. Quote
AKheathen Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 basically, all you can do is keep the water out of the carbs.....they can be spotless, brand new, and still do it....... wheel bearing grease in the cable adjuster cup and threads, longer vent tubes, and whatever you can do to your filter/outterware..... So should I take the carbs out and just drain them, carb clean them and stick them back in and you think it will be good to go, im trying to sell it so the sooner the better. Quote
J.J. Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 An old banshee complaint, especially going through water. Check for obvious signs of the slide sticking in the bore, as well as cable routing, binding. The retainer that holds the needle to the slide has a little hole in it that lines up with a corresponding hole in the slide, the retainer can fit two ways, either blocking off the hole or keeping it clear, the hole must be clear to equalize the pressures above and below the slide.
