i have a completly stock banshee. its starting to get cold here and my banshee started running like poo. its fowling out one side which is the right. do i need to make any adjustments on the carb to lean it out or what. i guess im confused on what to start checking. at an idle if you thumb the throttle it loads up and pops. or i was riding on trails the other day got into about 3rd or 4th and let off and it wants to quit or bogs down hard. any suggestions?

colder means that you need to richen.......that being said, it sounds liker you may have oil separation going on. if you fuel is older than a few weeks, drain the tank. if it's not that old, drain it out, shake it up and puti it back in. don't forget to drain the carb bowls. what happens, is that you get a bunch of oil going in which displaces the fuel, meaning you will be running lean, but fouling the plugs. given what you described happened through the pull then going to crap, you may have melted a piston. also, are you running the lid and snorkel on the airbox? if not, you have to comphensate with jetting. another thing to look for is an airleak somewhere, staring with the intakes, they tend to crack, and you know that they are leaking if oil is in the crack, or if the nipples for the cross over are cracked. if you have fresh premix in there and it's still fouling with oil, then you can have a bad crank seal. a compression test would be a good idea also.

thanks for the reply dude. you explained everything great. im going to see if i can get the tank drained this week. it was sitting with premix in there for a couple weeks. im wondering if that is the problem. otherwise i can go from there. there is still the stock lid and snorkel on the airbox. and i looked the other day and it doesnt look like any airleaks around the boots. thanks.

i dont know if it is to soon to say that fixed it. i put in fresh gas after i drained the tank and it seems to be running better. i cant really test it out in my neighborhood so im going to bring it north this weekend. ill keep you posted. thanks again.

keep an eye on your plugs should be like a cardboard brown. every 15 degrees drop up a main size. you may not be able to see the crack either spray some carb cleaner on them while running if it revs up a lil bit you have a leak.
