WantABanshee Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 I just got a Banshee and trying to decide on which route I want to go with the air intake. I ride trails and of course it splashes water and do not want to get any water in my motor. I have the Trenga racing 2 into 1 filter and am considering putting the stock airbox back on. Do they make something that makes the stock airbox protect better? I know its bad about leaking. I would rather sacrifice alittle performance for protection Thanks guys Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 Get a K/N drop in filter with teh billet plate that seals it to teh box with an o-ring, stikck an outerwear on it. Then get the K/N lid and get the outerwear for that also. Kinda over kill but water wont get in unless you take your bike swimming. I run some wet trails sometimes and i just run the air box and k/n billet adapter plate and an outie. Its fine like that...i go around the deep puddles though Quote
WantABanshee Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 thanks for the reply.. Whats my other options? Quote
crustydemon Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 I think the advise savage420 gave you is the best option for your type of riding,I use to drill a couple more holes in the bottom of the air box just to make sure the water has a better chance of getting out because you get grass and shit in there that will plug the drain hole. AKheathen Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 i run the billet adapter in my box with no lid, but still get some water in my carbs when i have to cross a creek. i also, just leave the drain cap on and dump it out every once in a while, since the box can dip into the water, too. thinking of making a high-flow snorkel/lid, but you can open it up bycutting on the channel inside the lid, so it just has the center to deflect water off the top of the filter. if you want to spend the money, there is a cfm airbox that uses a pair of pods inside, and is completely reconstructed from aluminum. robert.b.west Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 I run clamp on K&N's and honestly don't have any problems when we run on wet trails. Not much splashes under the seat where the filters are. Even water skimming I have never had a problem. Quote
