Ya, I was hoing to get some tips to do it my self, i know it wont end up as mirror as yours, but i am just wanting to polish up some little things like my silencers, foot pegs, etc. Any suggestions for chemicals/tools would be appreciated, but i understand if you dont want to give out your secrets. Ederasu Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Since I'm too lazy to type it all out here's my tip to you lol google search polishing motorcycle rims or something of that type and there will be write ups on it there. I found it under the motorcycle rim search and it was a very thorough write up. The same thing they did on the rims works great on anything else. If you have any questions just pm me and I'll see if I can find the write up I used. -nick- Quote
Bansh-eman Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Your prep work is what will give you the best ending results. Wet sand any rough areas so they are nice and smooth. Then get your self a few different rogue compounds and a good buffing wheel. Use a wire brush to clean the wheel off as you go. Dremel for the tight areas. And TONS of patients! Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 Polishing billet, alum? Yup, sanding stages down to a fine grit or it will show in the end. Get a sewn wheel with brown compound. Loose wheel for white and green compound to finish it off. Harbor Freight sells little kits for those tight to reach spots. If you need help ship the stuff my way, will bling it out for a few bux!
