timing plate question

i just got a timing plate and the mechanic installed it at 5 and i was wondering dosent evryone set it a 4 ?

so is 5 a got setting ?

Most people run them at 4, however you can play with it and see what works best for you. You need to run higher octane with higher degrees of timing though.
