powder coating stock a-arms

Has anybody powder coated there stock A-Arms can you do this without messing up the rubber boots on the ball joints can they cover it with the heat tape and it be ok or what.

I have seen some make it, and some not make it. Its not a good idea to do them in an oven, thats for sure. I heard there is a het gun or lamp setup that has worked, apparently the powdercoat did not look that great though.
