Right now I run two HELLA 500 Lights (In My Sig). Im thinking about ditching these and running two handlebar spot Lights and two flood lights down by my bumper. What would be the brightest lights I can get without running HID's because I dont want to run a battery, or do I have to even run a battery for HID's? I have a 200W Ricky Stator. Also would wattage lights would you recommend.

You can run a capacitor for hid's, there is still the ballast misfire issues though. However, these solstice led lights I use have battery packs as well. There is not really anything awesome you can run in a halogen. Anything good is going to require you to stray from your current electrical setup. The solstice lights require DC, and the HID's need a capacitor or battery to start up.

Damn those are bright as fuck. That would really help with my dune riding at night. But I don't go to the dunes too often What would be another option instead of running a battery? And could I do a dc conversion and run the lights without running a battery?

I dont know if they will run off just a dc conversion. I think they will, but I haven't tried it yet. You can run the small battery packs with the lights too. You don't have to ride at the dunes to use the lights.

Well the only time I would utilize the lights is at night in the dunes. How long would the battery packs last with a pair if those solstice lights ?

about 4 hours with 2 lights hooked to a single battery pack.

Well I know how to do all that stuff, and I made my own battery box with coolant bracket. Then I designed a wiring diagram and added a charge harness onto the bike. So I guess it depends on your skill level as to what you feel comfortable doing. I also steer clear of stuff like the crappy Ricky Stator reg/rectifiers and use snowmobile components. I have been toying with the thought of making battery pack brackets for the banshee. Then you just take the packs off and recharge them.

 

You guys that saw the pics, where do you think you would like the battery pack brackets to be mounted? Say big enough to hold 1 to 3 battery packs?

I have the only battery pack right now, I was testing it out for Nick. He told me when he gets them in here in a few weeks then he can let em go out the door to me for sales. They are $195.00 and they come with the charger. I dont know how much it is for extra single packs as of now, but I think the chargers are around $50.00, so the battery packs would be about $145.00 or so.

Sheesh 195? It's cheaper just to run the battery conversion. And you wouldn't have to worry about charging the packs. You figure you pay 195 for a pack, your gobbe end up buying another pack. Then 100 a price for hid's. That's almost 500 bucks. You can just buy a battery for like what... 35 or 50 bucks? I already have the 200w stator. It can't be that hard switching it to dc current to run a battery. How do I go about doing this.

Well thats why most people dont do the dc conversion. They have to wire it, and figure out a battery mount. It wasn't an issue for me cause I have a welder, and I'm a 12v wiz kid. I thought about drawing up a diagram and selling them for a few bucks. I even thought about producing battery brackets too. Most people get scared off with this whole dc conversion thing.

yah I figured that for the most part. It doesn't really scare me because the wiring doesn't look to hard and my dad is a welder. I already rewired my wiring harness with no problems at all. And floating the ground doesnt seem too hard either, I have access to a soldiering iron. Just the location if the battery is what I'm more worried about. I think I would prefer it more up front. Maybe behind the bumper, I don't want wires everywhere on my bike. Just keep it simple and have everything up front. Especially since I relocated my cdi and voltage regulator inbetween my gas tank and radiator.
