I tore down a buddys quad and the left side piston one of the needles from the wristpin bearing was gone. Is it possiable for it to fall out with the engine together or is it most likely from the idiot that he bought it from when he re-ringed it last summer, maybe dropping the bearing on the ground or somthing?? I didnt think it was possiable for the needles to fall out as the wristpin holds the inside and the connection rod holds the outside........BTW the engine ran good, no noises just time for a re-build.

well i just looked at it again and it looks like the needle did in fact go into the bottom end anf got chewed up. There are alot of tiny fragments of metal in the bottom end. Would flushing it out with premix work to get that shit out of there? All the bearing are good luckly........

There is no way it could fall out while the wristpin is in the rod. And if it had fallen out it would do some serious damage.

Just another case of the DPO.

hard to say....all it takes is one tiny giblet to make a big ole mess. If you aren't going to split it I would take motor off and turn it upside down and wash and wash and wash then use air to blow blow blow. Just be a chance thing. only sure way is to split it.

It is possiable if he drove the pin in with a hammer and broke the cage or caught a pin and it fell in the bottom. I have seen and worked on a couple some da's drove in the wristpins and done some serious damage

do you think that the shavings are just the engine wearing? Its a 89 and has only been re-ringed ever lol

hell with it, im spliting the cases. Thanks guys

I'd say that's a good call, best way to make sure everything is good to go...who know's what else was damaged or overlooked.
