I guess I should go pick up some race fule to mix until I can find the right domes for my bike...Any recommendations?

running 21cc domes...

should have my shearers this week

coolhead

34pj's

dynoport 2-1 for a few more days

all aside from the fact that the pipe is strangling that motor so bad I cannot get past 1/3 throttle... it runs very strong

I never measured it when I put these domes on, I just swapped heads. :ermm: I'll pull it down this week and see what I have. Stock timing plate. I figured with the stocker plate I might be able to get away with it. Guess not.

Should I just go back to 24cc domes? I could really care less about compression. I like to stay away from the front lines of the detenation wars. The last thing i want to see it a hole in the top of my pistons. I haven't even been able to ride it with drag pipes and my thumb to the bars yet.

You shouldn't need race fuel with that setup unless you have a rediculous amount of ignition timing.

Assuming the engine is setup right, I would guess you would have ~150 psi at sea level.

bahhhh....It's all wacked out with this single pipee man. I'm going to wait it out and see what I have when I get the shearers and new carbs. I'm dropping the adjustable plate in there next week too so I can change the timing around. My brother has an o-scope we can put on the coil wire to watch for detenation. I talked to him a little while ago he said I can put it up on the dyno roll to run it even though he doesn't have the computer down in the room yet. So at least I can do some tuning without having to go flying down roads everywhere

just a thought, but you might have a bad CDI. I had one that ran, but i chased my tail on jetting for days. I kept adding fuel and it kept breaking up. New CDI and all was good. I think it was stuck at max advance if that is possible. dont know, but might swap in a know good one before pulling your hair out

possible....I have a spare, but it all started with the new head. I'm sure it's just a set-up issue since....well.... daj said it well "you've taken a world-class pitbull and turned it into a chiquawa" reffering to the 2-1 pipe on the cheetah cylinder. I'm backing all that used up gas inside of the engine.momentarily raising the compression above what it should yield normally

oh, i see, didnt know you had a 2 into 1 on a cub. Dang i would call that a mismatch. Question; is this a 68x54 cub or 68x 58 cause 21 cc domes on my 68x58 gave me 185psi kicking compression and UCCR of about 14.5:1 i belive. if that is a 421 you are way into race gas territory regardless of what exhaust and carb you have on there. just my .02

4mil.... yeah it doesn't kick that hard. I haven't check it but I'm guessing in the 155 area. My stock head motor was 147

No way in hell man, if that is a 4mil x 68 bore, 21 cc domes will give probably 165 -170 psi is my guess. i had a typo in my previous post, i run 20 cc domes in my gas 421 and kick 185 psi with a .053 squish on a known good snap on gauge. you need to run race gas, i dont care what carbs or pipes you have on there. even if the guage is reading less, calculate the UCCR and you will see you cant run pump in that motor if you want it to live.

I was told 21cc's on my engine combo will yield 150-160psi....and run pump gas fine. I may as well go back to 24cc domes. I'm not real big on compression anyways. All it does is take away from your topend rpm's
