scotts96fast Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Machine runs great for the first 10 minutes after that it starts to run like shit.Let the bike cool and than it will run fine and than run like shit. Can this problem be any other than a crank seal? Quote

sheefreak Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Sounds like you are pretty rich to me. What do your plugs look like. Did it all of a sudden start to happen, or happen after some changes..... Does it start well cold w/o the choke? If you have a bad crank seal on the right side, it will be spraying oil out the right side exhaust pretty bad. Quote

I had porting done over the winter...!st weekend out the middle crank bearing froze up.It ran like a top for 2-3 hours.Next trip the stator smoked and destroyed the flywheel. The frame was cracked where the regulator mounts.I'm thinking a bad ground caused that problem. So now it runs like a million bucks until the motor gets hot.I'm thinking the crank seal on the stator side got damaged when the stator cooked.Never did a plug chop yet,but the plugs always looked dark brown and a tad wet on the ring. When it started to act up I pulled the plugs and they were gray/white!!!!ran it 100 yards and the plugs got color. sheefreak Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 What you are saying is a little contrdictary. If you had a bad stator side crank seal, you are most likely going to fail a leakdown test. It is possible to be bad and pass a leakdown but is not likely. In this case it would fail a vaccum test. Also, you said the plugs look rich then they look white when it starts to act up??? Give us a rundown of your setup and jetting and we will hash this out. Quote
scotts96fast Posted August 9, 2009 Author Report Posted August 9, 2009 The plugs only got white/gray one time. Mods...... Woods port with case matching to transfers,20cc domes,28mm pwk's with 155 mains,48 pilots and needle in 3rd from top. It's the n8ba needle something like that.I run the lid with the last 2x3 inches cut out.White knuckle intakes with v-3 reeds.1500 feet above sea level.I'm running pump gas and the commpression is 175.I checked the compression at about 800 ft above sea.Which seems a little high for pump gas.I'm going to call the builder on that. With all the problems I've been having I never changed the jetting.Ran like a top after the rings were broken in. Quote
mopar1rules Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 (edited) when you say it runs like $hit, what exactly do you mean? does it sputter, does it not have good throttle response, does it seems to just not make power, or what?? Edited August 9, 2009 by mopar1rules Quote

The motor breaks up and will lose some power. The motor will idle fine and rev good in netrual. Quote
