alf44 Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 So when i first built my bike my builder recommended 28s.I ran them for awhile but never seemed to get them right. they bog on the bottom and the top. Tried everything builder recommended and just hated them. It raised alot of questions with all my buddies on why not 35s or at the least 33s. Now the riding style i described to my builder was hill climbing, playin hard in the trees, joy riding and the occasional drag race. Ive noticed a few bikes that are built similar too mine run usually 35s. Im thinking of going back to the duel carb setup. Right now I run a single 35 and it runs great except for 5-6 gear it just falls on its face on the top of 5th and dies in 6th????????? My mods are in my sig. what do you guys think. Quote
RippinShee Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 I have similar mods as you, maybe a little bit more aggressive drag port. But i have heard I should be running 33's or 35's. Not sure on the jetting though. Quote

donkeypuncher Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 seems like cascade loves 28mmpwk's. they put 28's on my buddies bike (oregon banshee) and he's got a 4mill. i think they do it to keep bottom end. those 28's should work well with your setup though, dont think you have too much motor. i run 33's on my duneported bike, but i noticed some loss in bottom end when i switched from stock to these. however, the gain in top end was well worth it IMO. main reason i went with the 33's is because i plan on goin bigger with my motor in a couple of years and new i would end up getting larger carbs anyways. my riding style is 60% duning (2nd to 4th gear mostly), 25 % tree shots, 15 % dragging. Ya pretty similar riding style. They told me thats why the used the 28s. They just never worked right for me. Just bogged and ran dry on the top. Spent my whole sandfest last year on the phone with Chris trying too get it right. Finally threw on a single 35 setup my buddy had there and never looked back. Loses power in the top of 5th and bottom of 6th. but i can live with it for now. Quote
Snopczynski Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 How do you have the single 35mm setup for mains, pilots, and needle size? Thats not a very good match for t5-s and a dune port. I would personally run 28mm carbs on your setup. What 28mm carbs are we talking about? Did you try getting jet specs off of here? I know cascade is usually way off on their jet specs for the single carb setup. Do you still have the 28mm carbs? Did you ever check to make sure they had the right slide cuouts, float heights set, and all that stuff in em? Where did you get the 28mm carbs? Quote

Where did you get the 28mm carbs? got them from cascade jetted when they did they portjob.Keihin 28s. They always bogged and lost power in 3rd and 4th gear like they ran out of gas. Trouble shot them for ever with cascade and never got them right. Now i run the single 35 kiehin with 200 main 52 pilot dek needle on 4th clip. cascade recommended a 190 main but i know they run there bikes a little lean. Runs great except for the very top of 5th and no 6th at all. falls on its face. Quote
RippinShee Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 I have stockers on it now..but will be switching to pwk 35's soon. Quote

Your actually lean up top, because that setup runs off the needle 85% of the time. Did you get needle sizes, clip positions, main jet recommendations, and float height specs for them off the forum from others who run them? (28mm's) Quote

(28mm's) Know i didnt. my first time out on them was at sandfest last year. I just gave in. I really do like the single setup. ill try your recommedations and see what happens. Quote

Snopczynski Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Yeah, its a good base starting point. I would like to see you get the 28's to run right. Quote
alf44 Posted August 8, 2009 Author Report Posted August 8, 2009 Yeah, its a good base starting point. I would like to see you get the 28's to run right. ya i may try again. im supposed to get it dyno tuned down at cascade and i was going to see if we can try it with the 28s on also. Quote
Snopczynski Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Dyno tune will not make it exact for the sand dunes. Its only gonna get it close in their shop. Quote
